Homemade Cleaning & Toilet Wipes Recipe

Homemade Cleaning wipes:
3-4 old t-shirts cut into squares (I made 36 squares from 3 Men's Large size undershirts)
2 cups filtered water
1/2 cup vinegar
Few drops of lavendar oil
Squirt of Castille soap
Pour over rags, let soak for 30 minutes

Homemade Toilet wipes:
3-4 old t-shirts cut into squares (I made 36 squares from 3 Men's Large size undershirts, chose bright red so that I could make sure they wouldn't be washed with anything else)
2 cups filtered water
1/2 cup vinegar
Few drops of tea tree oil
Squirt of Castille soap
Pour over rags, let soak for 30 minutes

This may be a dumb question but how do you use them, single
use and then they get laundered, use them daily and wash them weekly?
    Thanks

  2. I use them single use then wash. I try to wash a load of whites everyday to every other day and my cleaning wipes go in with that load. The reason I separated the toilet from cleaning wipes is sanitary reasons. I don't want anything that cleans my toilet being reused accidently on my countertops (even after washing it, I'm just OCD like that ;) ).

How I handle the toilet wipes is after using them I usually do a quick sanitizing cycle in the washing machine, then send them through another cycle with my regular load of whites *since this photo was taken I've changed to grey toilet wipes that way I can wash them without the red being a concern*.

I save all the cleans ones in a drawer. When the bucket runs out of wipes, I make a fresh batch using the recipe above.

  3. Are these for cleaning the toilet or are these like the cottonelle/charmin flushable wipes- minus the flush part?

  4. These are for cleaning the toilet. I'm not sure if vinegar or Castille is safe for use as hygenic wipes.

  5. When you say filtered water, do you mean purified or distilled water?

  6. By filtered I meant I used the water from my refrigerator door that goes through the filter. Somewhere online said that filtering the water allowed the mixture to last longer....honestly though I used tap water too and didn't have any problems with it.
